This plug-in adresses only one of many GDPR issue of WordPress, but its very thorough and comprehensive. Add this to your list of standard WordPress plug-ins. This should become part of WP core!

UPDATE: Dev replied quickly and helped with “workaround fix”. Looks like the site that was affected was still running PHP 5.6 which is not like me as i like to keep that up to date ????
Updating to PHP 7.2 should fix the PARSE Error Issue, if you get one.
The newest update of this plugin seems to break multisite websites. Please look into that. And yes I am sure it’s your plugin. I get an error message accessing the website after updating Avatar Privacy which leads to its directory. Sorry, have no time to replicate error to copy paste the exact error message here. Need the site to be online so not updating for now.

With all the regulations of GDPR starting a blog has become a lot more difficult. There are tons of things you have to keep in mind. In particular you have to make sure that your visitors data is not unnecessarily shared with services like Gravatar.
This plugin solves that problem easily and allows you to use other avatars instead of completely deactivating them. Great work and a bless for anyone who wants (or needs) to respect the privacy of their users!

Thank you very much for this plugin. There is no extra dashboard in WP necessary. It´s only extending the setting-area of your user and the discussion-settings. So you can make your comments with a view klicks agreeing to the DSGVO.

the plugin is exactly what I was looking for. Before I installed it, I was using another plugin to display placeholder images to people commenting on my blog. But they were always the same pictures and it looked boring.
With this plugin you can use the avatars almost completely as usual, only that no data (except the e-mail address) is sent to gravatar.com. The avatar images are cached on your own server. All this works without any further configuration. The support is also very helpful and friendly.

This plugin enhances the WordPress Avatar feature with much needed functionality. It makes the website safer and better by blocking unnecessary requests to Gravatar. The user itself can now decide to grab his/her Gravatar and submitting the email address while checking a box in the comment form. All others will stay safe.
In times of EU-DSGVO und GDPR those features should be a standard in WordPress and I’m so happy that I found “Avatar Privacy” which addresses these concerns.

Excellent plugin with pro support! Had a rather tricky issue on Windows — which the developer doesn’t use — and he went the extra mile to comprehend, install a Windows VM to debug, and finally fix.
From all the features, I like the cache thing that keeps the varied collections of avatars offered by the plugin saved locally, avoiding that way the constant hitting of outside services that may slowdown page loading overall.

Because of the GDPR I was looking for a solution to avoid sending the IP of a visitor of my website to a third party in the case of gravatars. “Avatar Privacy” is the solution for me. The plugin works fine immediately after the activation and needs very little configuration.
I had an issue with the plugin and another plugin which uses gravatars. The support of the plugin author solved the problem fast and friendly.

A few details:
– When you don’t include the author of a quote, the widget leaves a white space, instead of shrinking the size of the widget.
– In the sidebar, the section for quotes is called Quotes Collection. But all the others go: Posts, Media, Pages, Comments… there is an obvious one-word pattern that Quotes Collection breaks. Why not name it just Quotes?
– The design of the Quotes Collection section is almost, but not quite, identical to the other admin sections. I think that the perfect design for this kind of plugin would be to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the design.
– i18n missing.
The only shortcoming is lack of possibility of searching for a quote by text. I have dozens and dozens of quotes and when I try to find that one with a typo (to fix it) or the one that has some copyright on it (to remove it or to add original source) it takes me forever to find it in the admin interface.
Other than that, best quotes plugin ever. Highly recommended.
Really an awesome Quote Plugin.
Only a few little things are missing like an option to order the quotes or a rating-system.
I tried out at least four other plugins before I finally came across this one. Two of them just added shortcode and widget capability and relied on pages with a type of Quote, really half of what I was looking for. The next two had their own quote management, but didn’t have the all important option of tags or categories! This is perhaps the best quote rotator for WordPress!

Honestly, this plugin just works! and works well! I also received some of the best support in a long time and I have absolutely 0 regrets buying the Pro version. 100% would recommend / buy again!
I had a problem where it slowed down my site tremendously. I had deactivated all plugins and the only plugin causing the issue was this one. I also have a quite speedy dedicated server just like the other user who left a 1-star.
However, I was excited to see an update today. After updating I tried activating it, crossed my fingers, and VOILA!! No more slow site!!
This plugin is VERY useful for me because my publishers like to see what they are getting paid! So I am very happy about the fact you updated it.
I’m going to keep it around for some time before upgrading to premium because I want to make sure it works first. But if it stays working good again then I plan to upgrade to premium to get the extra features. But even without premium this is extremely useful even for the free version!! This plugin is amazing, I bought the PRO version a few weeks ago (I was anxiously awaiting its release) and it works like a charm.
We have over 40 contributors and 10 authors to manage and a system like this is a god send. It makes tracking your authors progress a lot lot easier and it makes the accounting side of things a walk in the park too.
The fact that it is integrated with Google Analytics is amazing, there are many post view plugins out there which track visits to a page, but there is nothing better than using verified Google Analytics data when it comes to paying your authors for views.
I would recommend this plugin to anybody that wants to pay their authors per word, per views, per comments, anything! This plugin has it all.
Furthermore, we had an issue with the plugin when we first bought it, and the developer of this plugin was very quick and helpful to respond to my issues and got the problems fixed up straight away and an update pushed out.
If I could rate this 10/5 I would.
This plugin is going to save me huge amounts of time! Some custom mods were required and without complaint Stef implemented them, 1st time fully functional and I suspect in future it will be available to all.
It’s difficult to get started but after a while you come to realise pretty much everything you need is there.
Still have some questions but I have no doubt I will get there, usually I find it’s my fault for not setting up the plugin correctly. So many features it’s easy to make mistakes so don’t blame the plugin.

Had to change my rating from one star to five stars because I was using it wrong. If you’re like me, you want to set it up to have the link/file downloaded so the user can’t use a fake email address to get the download (what use is a fake email address to you?) I took over a site using the old version of Download Monitor, and was nervous about updating it, since this plugin uses both that and Contact Form 7. In practice, the upgrade was trivially easy, and this plugin plays nicely with both the old and new version. Just carried on where it left off in the logs, quoting the new ID. Phew!
And yes, it was quick to set up and just works. I like that in a plugin.

This is a very adaptable plugin. Now we can have the links we want on each page: Links to all of the main pages via the WordPress menu, and links to sub-pages with the Advanced Sidebar Menu. Now, instead of building a separate website for each of our Instructors, we can simply give them a few pages on the main website, and use the Advanced Sidebar Menu to provide links to only their pages. We haven’t experienced any problems with this plugin, it does the job just the way we expected it to.
This plugin brings some amazing functionality by auto generating menus for page sidebars. It’s incredible how powerful this plugin is and it’s author is nothing short of brilliant! Well coded and so useful!

This is great, I’m using this plugin on a site with more than 100 pages and half a dozen categories.
Previously to have different links on different pages. I made multiple sidebars. Keeping track in the widget area was work, with lots of clutter.
Returning to a site made months before to change something was a bit daunting.
This is so simple, if you are using pages, use the child parent relationship and for posts categories.
I use the default sidebar and two widgets, simple, clean, straightforward…
As long as I link the page with a parent or post with a category it’s all automatic…

I had installed the Ultimate Category excluder that is recommended everywhere but it did not do the job. I had checked a category to be excluded from the front page and it did not go away.
Then I search for an alternative plugin and found this Front Page Category one. Just had to figure out the settings are in an additional menu item almost at the bottom in Customize -> Appearance -> Front Page Category menu item.
Still works as of 11/2015. Posts categorized under child categories require the parent and child to be checked in the plugin settings.
This plugin claims that it

This can be a huge difference if you have posts in multiple categories.

After scouring the Internet for a nice modal pop-up plugin that would satisfy my rather complex needs of offering a clickable pop-up to display a flip-book somewhat-like Amazon’s Look-Inside function, I stumbled upon this plugin by a developer I have actually met at a Montreal WordPress meetup.
The plugin by far surpassed the dozen or so other similar plugins I tried, which all seemed very convoluted, and after a very bit of struggling I got my functionality working with this plugin.
The variety of options, good support, and the fact that it just works all point to a high rating.
The only small reasons I could not give it 5 stars is that I feel it lacks a bit of polish around its configuration settings, and the fact that some things have to be done manually, like adding scripts for the click to open functionality.
I must say I think Yannick is only a few tweaks away from getting a 5 stars out of me so hope he continues to push what this plugin can do as it seems to be fulfilling a good niche.

This plugin was exactly what I needed. I had a little hiccup using it with my theme, contacted the author and he provided excellent and timely support and had the issued resolved and everything working again very quickly. Highly recommend this plugin!

With this plugin installed, NEXTGEN Gallery won’t show photo’s in a lightbox anymore.
Doesn’t allow to change the text (not that I saw) and when you click on it you get taken to the author’s web site, which is a big no-no. I’d even be willing to pay if we could change the text and customize the click behaviour but, alas, no such luck.
Also, it requires flash, which means no iPad.
