Project In Image and video gallery from Google Drive
Image and video gallery from Google Drive is a plugin for WordPress that connects your site to your Google Drive. With this plugin, you can select any folder in your Drive or a Shared drive and the plugin will convert it into a gallery, displaying any photos or videos in a page or a post on your website. Any folders and their subfolders will also be displayed in the gallery as nested galleries.
All the data is sourced from Google Drive with nothing but the plugin configuration being a part of your website. This enables your site to load faster as the images are loaded from Google and not from your hosting provider. It may also save you costs for your site hosting, as the big files of the gallery are not stored as part of your site. On top of that, if you ever decide to move or reinstall your site, simply install this plugin again on the new site and your old galleries will still be there and working.
Having the photos in Google Drive also gives you a familiar and easy-to-navigate UI for gallery management. You can give individual people or groups granular permissions to the Drive folder, making them able to add photos to a particular gallery without giving them full access to your site. They will then be able to manage the content of the gallery through Google Drive, without having to learn how to work with WordPress. You can also manage all content in your organization with Shared drives owned by your organization’s Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite).
Using this plugin is very straightforward. Once the plugin is installed and configured, you can add a Google Drive gallery to any page or post. If you are using WordPress 5 or newer with the block editor (i. e. Gutenberg), there is a block that you can add that will allow you to choose a folder with a graphical user interface. It also makes it possible to configure each individual gallery very easily, should you want to do that. If you are using an older WordPress version or are still using the classic editor, there is a shortcode you can use instead of the block.
If you want to see how to install, configure and use the plugin, visit our documentation. To see the plugin in action, head on to the demo page.

The instructions are surprisingly detailed, follow them exactly.
I had 1 hiccup when I clicked the wrong button was able to easily take 1 step back and then it all worked.
I also use Foogallery, and I decided to use them both. That’s fine.
It’s amazing this is free. I’ve been able to also link my HD to Gdrive using some sorcery with bat files. So when I update my computer’s folders, the web site is also updated.
WOW!
Now THAT is amazing.
This plugin is amazing. I have been in the WordPress game for a long time, never bothered creating my own hardcoded galleries, so I’ve always used the horrendous gallery plugins you can find. This one beats all of them – so simple and the integration with Google Drive also cuts off the need to upload your media to your website.
Wonderful.
It would be nice if the loading animation would be made retina-ready and somewhat more elegant.
Once you go thru the complex task of Oauth/API setup with Google, this really is quite a nice plugin. Presentation is good with EXIF comments displayed, and handling both photos and images (so few plugins nor WordPress do that well!) My complements to the author(s)!
I also appreciate that it’s Open Source. And the management of media is far easier on Google Drive than in WordPress Media.
But there are a few drawbacks with how it’s designed:
0. Google Drive no longer allows “Public” access to drives. As a result, only named users/groups can access the drive. This was my showstopper.
1. the EXIF comments are not searchable from WordPress, so individual photos cannot be found by description.
2. Videos do not play on Firefox. I almost don’t care, but should mention it.
3. Vulnerability of the site to outages and unaddressed configuration changes. From this perspective, self-hosted content is more reliable.
I love this plugin – I’ve been swearing at Photonic for the last couple of weeks trying to display FlickR albums & whilst it’s lovely – it’s fighting the FlickR API all the time.
I installed this within minutes and it’s up and running displaying beautiful albums – I’ve downloaded all my FlickR images & moved them to my Google Drive & I’m so impressed.
Good work – it’s lovely – if I had one suggestion, it would be to able to display separate named galleries from different folders in my Drive (unless I missed something in the settings) but hey – I can live without!
Great plugin. It works perfectly and saves a lot of time and space on the site server. Once configured the developer interface of your Google Drive and made the connection (it takes some time, but not because of the plugin), publishing a gallery with the shortcode is really simple.
I am using the plugin for my site. It is the best.
But in my new site i am facing some problem.
I can’t gant permission from my google drive.
It’s showing ‘Error 500’
Note: i have configured Google drive outh correctly.
please help me if you need img or more information plz leave
your facebook address or email
Great plagin. If you are looking like I was for a way to host your images on your google drive and use them in your gallery on your WP site this plagin is for you.
It works. I have some problem during configuration but I get prompt help and answers from plagin author trough support forum .
Works great on my personal site. Instead of adding photos to both my site and Google Drive I can just add them to GD. Took a little config time but easy enough.
One small issue though – the quotes around the folder name need to be ” and not ” as shown in the instructions. It will just return a gallery not found error with ”.
That should be ASCII value 34 and not 148.
Correct – [sgdg path=”Folder name/subfolder/subsubfolder”]
I have used this plugin for several years without issue. Galleries render nicely on desktop and mobile devices. It would be nice if the images were cached more efficiently to reduce load-time, but it is, after all, a free plugin.
Wishlist: Option to display image metadata (i.e. image description) as image overlay in slideshow.
Jinak, fakt super ! Děkuji, že si něco takového udělal !
My uploads directory of WP was messed up with hundreds of photos. I just moved them to google drive and this plugin does the rest. It seemed to be complicated to create a google API, but it really isn’t. Just follow the instructions and let the plugin do the rest. Now I have a beautiful gallery with all the photos from google drive on my website. It just works!
This is a wonderful little plugin. It easy to set up, elegant and stylish. It makes website galleries simple to set up and extremely easy to maintain. No need to pull my hair out in the WordPress Media folder nightmare ever again! I can thoroughly recommend it.
If you have regular gallery maintenance to do then use it with Google Drive for Desktop. This maps your Google gallery folders to local drives which means you can edit directly from them or do a ‘save as’ into them and your images are instantly on your site gallery.
