After installing the plugin I was deluged with email messages highlighting 404 errors. In one day I had 103 messages, so removed the plugin.

The site I installed in is used for testing various CMS programs and I had deleted Joomla a couple of months ago. The 404 errors were all related to the Joomla installation.

Perhaps installing on a purely WordPress site would be more suitable.

Also, a better response would be to have a single message with all errors found in one day, week, or some configurable interval.

Good plugin to check broken links and so on. It helped me a lot. There are unfortunately some issues – the plugin doesn’t send “Date: ” header and then its mails are caught as spam. Also I don’t understand the usage of php mail() instead of wp_mail(). The current setup makes this plugin incompatible with any SMTP plugin.

I’ve been searching for a comment notification plugin that is simple to use and works well for a long time, until I finally found this plugin that I think is the best solution out there!

I tried using Subscribe To Comments Reloaded, but it didn’t work with my theme and also it’s a little too feature-heavy – all I needed was a checkbox to follow comments and a way to unsubscribe. Another plugin I tried was Jetpack Comments, which did work, but the notification checkbox is opt-in, so visitors always have to check the checkbox if they want to be notified (which only very few do). And then I found some other plugins that focus more on helping moderators to keep track of new comments.

Finally I found Comment Notifier. I had a little trouble caused by another plugin, but got great and really quick help from Stefano (developer of Comment Notifier). Thanks so much!

The only plugin that really works. No additional SMTP plugins. Used in WordPress 5.6, PHP 7.4.7. At the very beginning there was a problem with sending notifications by e-mail, but then I read “Active Topics”, looked at the screenshots and everything fell into place. When editing a post, you need to check the box. Made a translation of the plugin into Russian. Un desastre, después de configurarlo todo ha enviado el email poniendo mi email personal ( lo configuré ) y lo que es PEOR, que envía un sólo email poniendo a todos los usuarios en COPIA, la conclusión es que el usuario recibe el email y ve todos los emails de los demás, si un usuario contesta a ese email todos lo reciben, y además puede copiar perfectamente los emails de los demás.
Un usuario me ha denunciado por esto, espero que el juez lo entienda o no lo admita a trámite, pero empieza a convertirse en una pesadilla….

I reported this issue 8 months ago, and it still remains unresolved. I even told the developers the exact code line fix. The problem is that this plugin contains reset CSS styles on global elements like list items, etc. THIS PLUGIN WILL MESS UP YOUR THEME! Don’t waste your time on a plugin where the developers don’t fix reported issues, or seem to have a grasp on CSS.

I had been through multiple WP Notification Bar plugins that either a) didn’t work properly or b) didn’t support any of the features I wanted. I found the Apex Notification Bar Lite on a search, and didn’t have high hopes, but it was an extremely nice surprise.

It works perfectly, in both standard notification and multi-text (you enter in multiple HTML/text entries and they automatically cycle) formats, and the bar even accepts HTML code and links for added functionality. Multi-text is extremely important if you want to put up multiple site messages/links and easily cycle through them (ticker, slider or scroll) in either a top or bottom-mounted bar. And best of all, after slogging through hours on other notification bar plugins (and not finding what I wanted) I was literally up and running with a functional, great-looking multi-text bar (with custom text, images, fonts, etc.) in 5 minutes. It looks amazing too.

Talk about providing all the requisite features in a compact, very well-designed package. Kudos guys!

This is an amazing little plugin and I can’t recommend it enough. The Pro version is certainly more fully-featured, but there is more than enough in the Lite version to get you up and running.
